Maralba Focone's art illustrates the places of the soul and its inhabitants.

Born in 1946, professor of art historic. She draws before wlaking and carries out her studies, artistic and otherwise, in Turin, Rome and Bruxelles. She followes her many interests with passion, study, dedication and great fun.

She's always interested in the investigation of intrinsic variations in the human soul, she transposes characterizing nuances into her paintings. In this perspective, the indentifying traits of her poetics matured from a very young age.

She preferably uses oils and inks, but also chalks and pencils. She prefers the spatula and the flat brush. The subjects range from the architecture of villages to figures, portraits and divertissement with chromatic compositions aimed at emphasizing moods, lights and shadowns that welcome the observer's gaze.

In her long career as a painter, Maralba Focone has obtained significant awards and publications in magazines, books and catalogues, both in Italy and abroad.

There are several articles and interviews that have accompanied her career in specialized magazines and newspapers:

  • in 2022 the interview dedicated to her on ilgiornaleoff "Elegance and unconventional character" of Anna Soricaro;

  • in 2008 she was included in CAM, Catalog of Modern Art, number 54, and it was talked about her on various issues of the monthly ARTE, Mondadori;

  • she was included in the National Catalog of Modern Art n. 16/1981, Bolaffi;

  • she exhibited in 2017 at the Sala Promoteca of Campidoglio during an intercultural exchange between Italy and Iraq and at the Egyptian Embassy in Rome.

In 1978, Maralba was among the signatories of the Fifth Dimension Process Manifesto, a movement that had Universal Recognition. (Vip February/March 1978).

She collaborated in different magazines, both in Italy and abroad, writing her own articles concerning the history of art and contemporary painting (Opinioni libere; Vip; Và Pensiero di Bruxelles; Prisma; Scripta Manent).

In addition, she has been a consultant for the exhibitions at Teatro Fregoli in Turin.
Her activity has unfolded over the years, consistently collaborating with cultural centers and associations, such as Women Coordination in the World as a lecturer, and advancing her artistic discourse with exhibitions in prestigious venues such as the Campidoglio in Rome, the Carrousel du Louvre, and Les Artistes Independants in Paris.
Furthermore, with her "Marabù Project", she accompanies young artistic talents in embarking on the path of art, leading them to exhibit in venues such as the Mausoleum of Bela Rosin in Turin.
